About

A new foundation for sustainable development.

African Roots Worldwide was created out of a recognition that many global development efforts were not producing sustainable outcomes — despite significant investment in education, workforce, and economic systems. Systems were being built and scaled, but the human foundation needed to sustain them was not being addressed.

From both lived experience and broader cultural observation, it became evident that many individuals across the African diaspora were navigating identity, opportunity, and development without a clear connection to cultural grounding, psychological understanding, or shared values. Institutions were attempting to solve complex social and economic challenges without frameworks that accounted for these human dimensions.

The historical disruption caused by the Transatlantic Slave Trade — often referred to as The Great Maafa — and its lasting psychological and cultural impact further highlighted the need for a more integrated approach: one that connects history, identity, and human development to present-day systems and future outcomes. This need is reinforced by growing global recognition, including by the United Nations, of the enduring impact of these historical disruptions and the importance of restoration, rehabilitation, and reconciliation.

African Roots Worldwide exists to close that gap — building a framework that aligns culture, psychology, and ethics within systems, enabling development efforts to become more sustainable, human-centered, and effective across generations and regions.
